I made a big mistake letting my 12 year old daughter flick channels last night while I made a drink just as a pig was being so graphically slaughtered on this programme. I would just like to say that I'm so angry with Channel 4 for screwing up my daughter's head as she has been awake crying all night and today saying she can't get the noise of the pig squeeling out of her head. She really has been left traumatised. I know this programme was broadcast after the watershed, and I had no intention of watching it,as I do too believe that these programmes are like modern day freak shows. Was it absolutely necessary for this act to be shown in the first place - was it so beneficial to the programme? Just another shock tactic eh Channel 4? Well done - you've succeeded.
Like madkitten said, there was a warning, if your daughter is so sensitive to these issues, why let her watch tv after the watershed? I dont think its necessary for you to be angry at channel 4 as it was a very moving documentary. I think it's unfair for you to judge documentarys like this and call them freak shows as you didnt watch it and you obviously dont know what context the pig slaughter was in.

Spot on
I used to have an open mind ..but my brains kept falling out
I wasnt going to add anymore to this discussion but "Loves it" was spot on with her reply to "GRACHIE" and "Mad kitten" agreed also. I only watched the programme by chance and not because I was being Ghoulish. I cant remember seeing anything so moving. It brought tears to my eyes and it didnt seem like a freak show. When Huang spoke you saw beyond his horrific deformaties and just listened to him speaking. He didnt come across as being bitter about the cards he had been dealt and was overjoyed at seeing the sights in the City. I had to smile when he was brought back to his village and his father jumped out the van with a cigarette hanging out his mouth and threw down firecrackers. The poor lad must have nearly been asphyxiated by the fumes but I bet he never complained and took it in his stride. Its good to see that the Professor will do more operations and I hope the others will not be so major as the first?
