firstly i am really not surprised that so many people are confused about what is causing global warming, however there are a few things that stay the same and looking at text books and the internet cosmic rays, water vapour and co2. But even looking at the textbooks people with degrees in the samething say that they are incorrect and looking at the reaction to the programme people are saying that they got their facts wrong. hell even the programme maker mr durkin said that he got some of the graphs mixed up.

there is one point that i would like to make that people who i talk to and people who post these things that man is NOY causing global warming because of the amout of co2 that is being emitted each year is smaller than tiny comapred to other sources which come to think of it is everything on earth that lives and dies. for example the ocean is around 80% of the our earth and that in comparsion man might not as well not be there.

i really have no doubt that co2 is playing a part however big or small in global warming and im sure that you people with iq's that are higher than me and degrees have a lot more to say.

Another factor that remains for everyone that is poltics behind global warming. For example gordon brown says "green taxes for flights" however is that going to stop people from flying or him....no! And all of these taxes that are intended for cars 4x4's and such a like that is not going to stop anything except give people who hate the goverment more points to slag them off. I also like to point out the fact that the goverments is not doing all its saying it is. Because of the freedom od information act i managed to get hold of the figures that show how much waste the goverment departments are emitting each year and comapre them to previous years and they are not really doing anything at all it has to be said.

the only positive point that i have about the "green message" and is that it is really good encouraging the fattest nation in the world to dump their car for the bike by scaring them witless well done!

Welcome to the forum! The point about natural CO2 is that as much is absorbed as is emitted. Man's CO2 is in addition to the natural cycle, and so accumulates over time. It is easy to show that man has burnt enough fossil fuel to more than account for the extra CO2. Furthermore, fossil fuel carbon is less radioactive than "natural" carbon, and the reduction in the proportion of CO2 with radioactive carbon in the atmosphere over time can be measured.

Speaking from personal experience, I get annoyed when I find that a train ticket from my home to my parents' home is more expensive than the plane or my car's petrol consumption and wear&tear. An extra tenner will make a difference, though it would be nice to be sure that the tenner is used to cut taxes elsewhere.

I work in a government department that has successfully introduced a car-sharing system, recycling bins everywhere, efficient lighting etc. A lot of it has actually been driven by staff demands rather than from the above. We all have a role to play in this.
