I posted this in an earlier thread, but I reckon it deserves an outing on its own

I think what bothers me most is where this can all lead to.

I remember jokes about a Walking Licence, but all this talk about carbon footprints sounds like a breathing and farting tax to me.

I mean next time a major US city gets wiped out by a Hurricane, will the Govt say,"its our fault, we were complacent and we have not paid enough attention or money to natural climate change, or will they say its all the fault of those Chinese and Indians for wanting to drive cars and light their homes?

We have already had a war fought on the basis of fradulent claims of WMD how soon before we fight one based on fradulent claims of AGW

It really boils down to gread doesn't it. I reckon you and I could put our heads together and come up with some amazingly crude taxes how about I come ound your house and use a check list to decide how delightfully pleasant your situation is then I go away count up the little ticks and hey presto your very own personalised community tax. Grades go out the window amnd everone pays how ever much you fancy. GREAT IDEA!! wait they already thought of that one. : )

Back to the subject at hand, we poor isolated individuals in the country depend more on transport and if all this carbon footprint nonscence comes to fruition what happens about city dwellers and countryside dwellers?? hmmmm. Is this going to be a fair decision? Doubtfull, is it ever. Politicians go into the commons and come out litttle hitlers with massive pesions do they care about fair...oops slipped form the subject again!! must regroup!! am becoming high sarcastiv, not clever or funny! a babye

I think it is a very short walk, from "do you realise what you are doing to the planet" to "you are deliberatly trying to destroy the Planet"

How long before we hear rhetoric such as " We know that countries like Iran and North Korea have built Industrial facilites for no other purpose than to pump huge quantities of CO2 into the Atmosphere. This is a new and dealier chapter in the saga of the Axis of Evil....."?

We all know after all, where self rightous intolerence all to usually leads.

I say never mind CO2, remember IS3 (Its Sun Spots Stupid)
