My 5 year old broke his arm last week in the school playground. He's just gone back to school today and his class teacher is being a bit weird about it. She is pushing for him to go in and sit with the school nurse during playtime. Or maybe sit on a bench at the edge of the playground. I'm not sure how to deal with it but it was quite upsetting today after all the upheaval of last week too - I was a bit gobsmacked really when she said it and didn't know how to respond. Any thoughts anyone?
In response to Arkangel's problem I think AndyCardiff may be right. Schools nowadays have to be so careful in dealing with children. Staff are not supposed to touch kids at all and even taking someone's elbow to help them out a door is seen as "assault" by some of the kids nowadays. I have been accused of this at least twice when all I was doing was separating kids who were knocking 6 bells out of each other. Staff are terrified that they will be sued or lose their jobs if something happens to kids. God Bless America!!!!
Hav'nt we gone a bit too far these days? A little personal contact is a natural human desire. Todays kids are in danger of thinking they are some sort of untouchables as if they are carrying some sort of dreaded desease or something!
