None, I went to school to learn. Obviously they take the soft approach nowerdays so kids can have fun rather than learn the basics.

Are you joking SS. That was not fun, it was mortal torture! Singing hymns in assembly like:

I was cold i was naked were you there? where you there i was cold i was naked were you there?

And..........whats worse is we still make them do it today. And tell them off for making up different song words. They are only the same made up song words we used to sing.
E,g, Joshua fought the battle of jericho was turned into the battle of cherry coke!

You must have gone to a nice normal school then where children were allowed to express their joy and love for the world through creative play and not patriotic, typically english hymns!

Although not an assembly song, I vividly remember singing a song in primary school that went something like this....

Like a lazy co-co-coconut, co-co-coconut tree....

LOL anyone else sang that????

Everything, I'm at a church school so we have to go to church but we don't sing hymns in assembly, I doubt anyone would sing.

Music students ( like me! ) are forced into going to choir on a Friday lunch and forced to sing. The teacher can't use the cane but she has other ways of torture.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't be the only person to remember:
The ink is black,
The page is white,
together we learn to read and write, to read and write!

I don't know its an impossible choice, i'll just have to hope that when I flip the coin it somehow explodes and kills me.
