What had the most effect on you to make you behave at school, whether it was punishment (which was the most effective for you?) or some sort of reasoning or encouragement?

Not much- suspensions, detentions, they both failed. The cane was a bit of a deterrent though. No-one likes having their backside tanned, do they?

im so glad i wasnt around when the cane was used! im a goody goody at school but im a compleatly different person outside.

I wasnt a bad student once i turned up. I didnt do homework but i never caused trouble in class.

Well i got put on report a few times and i was good when i was on that. But detentions never worked.

One of my teachers used to throw the blackboard rubber at us when we weren't expecting. It hurt when it hit you.

Corporal punishment never deterred me, but suspensions did. Your parents didn't get involved for a caning or a teacher hitting you, but they were involved for suspensions and my old dear was worth fearing.

There was not one thing that made me behave at school I just had respect for the teachers, sadly our year at school was the last ones that did. No children have respect for adults of any kind nowdays. sorry that should be most children some children do

What made be behave?

I just behaved! I think its down to the teachers you have most of the time, if you get a nice teacher who doesn't scream at you for no reason then you're gonna behave.

The fear of ms. Rowley spitting all over your face. She liked to shout too, every telling off was like a shower.

i was only cained once throughout school and never needed seconds it was often said that your school days would be the best of your life but 99%still could not waite to leave oh how right it was byeeeeee

i was gd at scholl the nasty kidz made me behave if u was nice then they canrt say enything to lol

and i hated the teachers who like the nasty kidz the ones who got away with been naughty coz the teachers were iether scared of them or liked them in some wired way ?? the roges if thats the word ?

Especially the really clever but naughty kids, they were all in the tops sets in my school and the teachers just loved them. It was annoying because they didn't really pay attention to anyone else.

the nuns! i was scare of them! went to all girl school. teachers were nuns. except the art teacher!
