Todays school children seem to get away with anything they want.
In my day you would get the cane across the backside just for handing in sloppy homework!
Do you think todays school children should get a beating for some of the things that they do?

These days’ pupils get marks for trying, even if they are completely useless… what a load of rubbish.

You seem a bit enthusiastic about beating children.

I agree totally, bring back the cane, it taught me a lesson or two for sure.
Sometimes a good beating is needed, kids have to learn to respect autority.

I would hate to be a teacher nowadays.

No not at all. When i was at school i had the slipper and cane for trivial little things but nowadays it has gone the other way where teachers are totally powerless against the pupils. Surely canning would be good for the bullies, thieves etc. rather than the silly things i got it for !

I don't think anyone is trying to hurt you Alley Cat. When I was at school the cane was still used but the vast majority of kids never got it. It was only a small minority of kids who got the cane (3 whacks across the bum usually !) for things like bullying, fighting & stealing. Hopefully that isn't a problem at your school. Times have obviously changed but maybe the cane would be better than suspensions for things like that ? What do you think ?

I think alot of brats today should get a caning on the knuckles and forced to write 1000 lines straight after.

Spot on Road Trip... or given a good whack on the tips of their fingers with a proper wooden ruler. I heard about a teacher in the early 90's that told a girl to take off her shoes and then scattered drawing pins on the floor and made her walk across the room with her eyes closed!


I think for line they should write:

"I must not shout out bum in school assembly!"

Or

"I am a boy and therefore I must not go into the girls toilets for fun, or ask them to do handstands"

Rasberryripple i had several strokes of the cane at school just for silly things such as handing in homework late....it was very painful.
Nowadays kids are getting away with what ever they want too. Instead of going back to thrash happy teachers for silly little crimes do you not feel it would be good for society as a whole to cane school kids that are in to whickedcrimes such as bullying, violence and stealing. It is often reported that some kids try to take their own lives due to being bullied as teachers are powerless to do anything.
Do you not feel that in these instances the bullies should be given a thrashing?

I don't supose you have ever been threatend before out in the streets or been in a rowdy class at school. The teachers have no control over the childen and much of it is to do with regulations that are suposidly there to protect the children which in effect takes power and control away from the teacher. Because the teacher is powerless to take action against trouble children the situation becomes worse and the children in that class don't get a good education if the situation was controlable. Everybody loses.

Bring back the cane!
