Good point, corkman
I'd forgotten the Richard's hysterical stance based on er er er nothing.
Yet, his Forum is barred from taking a similar or opposite stance.
Talk about double standards!!

Simple, it is a limited company, a majority of the directors.

Yep, who are all either relatives or friends of Kate and Gerry.

On a 5live phone-in this morning with Uncle John McScam taking questions about the Fund, it was interesting how many times his phone cut out when he was asked awkward questions about the Fund, such as what the money has been spent on to date.

..but people knew or should have bothered to find out that it was a limited company when they sent in their money...

Your continued use of 'McScam' is the thing most likley to get your posts zapped Bozo. I can see how delighted you are at the most recent turn of events, but just remember we still have nothing absolute to go on. Oh and not all the Directors are friends and family.

Mongey, I respect your opinion.

on the One Show this evening John stated that the directors held a meeting(due to his and ?kennedy were not allowed to vote because of their family connections)voted not to use the fund money for any legal fees. He said we all know how expensive these fees could be and they have to rethink it, he gave me the impression that he thought they should be used for this purpose. I cannot understand why Gerry and Kate don't wait to see what the outcome from the judge will be, he has to make a statement within 10 days of receiving the papers surely it would be worth waiting for the result before doing anything drastic.

I don't think they are planning anything drastic, just trying to think ahead.

I understand they are considering launching a separate fund to raise money for their legal costs. Then we'll see just how many people support this very worthy cause (no doubt you will give generously).

Very interesting piece on Newsnight last night . It is not so long ago that Portugal was run by a dictatorship and the carry over from this is still in existence today in the state run agencies.
I was amazed they did not have a recording device during the McCanns interrogation. I would not trust someone trying to stich me up, to fully record word for word.

The McCanns Portuguese lawyer hit out at Potugal's judical system in an interview with a local paper.
" Justice in Portugal is slow and incapable of producing proof" he said. "It is more appropiate to break down the patience of a believer and the reputation of an innocent man than to identify those responsible"

Here's something the McCanns have kept quite about. Although a little ambiguous, it would appear that a separate fund for legal costs has existed since 16 May. Extract from totallyjewish.com:

"Jewish community members have also helped contribute to the legal case. TopShop tycoon Sir Philip Green has donated to a ‘fighting fund’ set up by the McCann’s lawyers yesterday to help pay their legal bills."

I have read this article. I think the newspaper is referring to the Find Madeleine Fund.....I maybe wrong but that is how it reads to me.

I'm not a big fan of the McCann's but if they had the foresight back in May to prepare a fund for legal representation just in case they may be suspected/accussed then surely the Portugese police would have investigated this by now? It's just too calculated for words.

I'm amazed though at how many influenial friends the McCann's have. They seem to know the ropes well and have all the very best advisors and contacts. Then again they will need every ounce of help they can get.

Prayers to Maddie you poor soul.

I agree with you Mongey, as definitely, the celebrity mentioned Philip Green, was one of the first in with the Find Maddy Fund. The wording of the article was a bit clumsy but it was obviously referring to the initial and at present, largely, only fund. Bozo is on the case though! You have to remember that!

Hi Amanda Smile

Just to lighten things up. I love it when you refer to me a mongey. When I set this forum thingy up (during YSWP) I made a mistake with my name....it should be moneywifey (just a little joke here at home!) but it ended up mongey wifey - oh well.

I don't know how to change it! so it's sort of stuck. I am now officially Mongey Big Grin

I'm glad you cleared that up, I had always been intrigued by your handle (cool dude!) I suppose the only thing would be to register again with the right spelling and a different email address a I had to when I was exiled during YSWP, but you would loose your stars and whatnot! DD and rothgar seem pretty clued up, I don't know if an edit of the name would be possible?

Actually I just went to my profile by clicking on my name on this page, and then to edit profile and it looked as though it would be possible to change the name. Have a go!

You may well be right that it's the Find madeleine fund they're referring to, but that's even more alarmimg that it was set up primarily to pay for legal bills.

Bozo - Legal Fees may have referred to legal fees for finding Maddie? The article is a little sketchy anyway.

I do have quite strong views myself regarding this case. Although, I am now feeling totally confused with what is and isn't fact.

All I can say is that I am glad capital punishment was abolished!
