I expect that R&J will get attacked for their appearance but I thoroughly enjoyed the show, thought they were in good form, just wished Richard had not joined the trend to use the "F" word. Totally unnecessary wasn't it posters?
Dire!! All they can ever talk about/be talked to about, is "This Morning" circa 1985, and their marriage. There is nothing else, as this appearance demonstrated. And the obscene swearing by Richard just jarred, no point whatsoever, appalling misjudgement of the mood/tone of their appearance. Ricky Hatton, a few weeks ago, was a far more entertaining and witty guest than the Madeleys.
Hi Rothgar. I knew that you would be having a moan so I thought I would get in first with my comments!!
To be fair, in most interviews, whatever programme you watch, the same topics are covered continually and R&J responded to the questions asked by the Pub Landlord. I challenge anyone to name a person in the public eye who does not repeat their life history, we see the same clips from the films,tv shows, interviews etc. I agree that Ricky Hatton was a breath of fresh air but how many interviews has he done of a private nature when usually it is all about boxing. I am sure, if he does as many interviews as the main stream celebriities, he will become boring or, if you insist Rothgar, even "dire" I enjoy the whole hour of the show and sincerely hope that Jonathan Ross has taken a tumble in the viewing figures. Now that is one boring dire man who loves himself so much it is embarrassing. I do not think Bruce Forsyth seemed pleased to see him on his birthday celebration show as Brucie is a "good old fashioned trouper" who has never let his standards fall.
Hi Chris Certainly agree about Jonathan Ross, he must know where the bodies are buried or something of the sort at the BBC. His "rise" is inexplicable. Ricky Hatton has a second career, I think, as a comedian - his timings and expressions etc. were marvellous, as good as, say, a Jack Benny. A natural - he was really entertaining.
No one's timing is as good as Jack Benny, who was a genius! I agree about Ross - all of that tiresome flirting and references to his family! The man has become a grotesque self-parody. He's supposed to copy David Letterman, but Letterman is far wittier, sharper and more honest than Ross will ever be. Letterman's recent interview with Paris Hilton (in which he kept asking her about prison) was funny and also a wonderfully deft put-down of a spoilt brat: Ross would have just treated her to a string of single entendres.

But, as a Richard fan, didn't he look smart.
Hi Chris, did not see the programme. Hope its repeated somewhere. Did they confirm that their present show is to be the last?
I do not think that the Pub Landlord is repeated on any channel at the moment. Maybe when this series finishes in two weeks.
Richard said that they have one more series, after this one finishes in two weeks. Hinted that other work was in the pipeline, but they could not confirm at this stage!!!!
I would like to see him work by himself, as he is more than capable and lots of people complain because he interrupts Judy. I believe he does this because she fiddles with her hair, wastes time trying to ask questions, continually says "I mean" and he wants to keep the show moving as time is precious and sometimes interesting items are cut short because they have run out of time. This is the trouble with really "live TV" but on the whole I do enjoy the variety.

Thanks Chris. It is the best show on at 5pm and when it does finish C4 will be a poorer place. probably replaced with some American rubbish or more Friends.

Thanks, I just saw this thread in time to watch it on ITV2+1
I agree with Chris that the swearing wasn't really needed, but I think Richard just enjoys that for some reason. Must have something to do with being on TV after 9pm.
The audience’s enthusiastic reaction to Al's question about whether or not they were calling it a day seemed a little forced. They probably had a floor manager frantically pushing the "CHEER AND APPLAUSE" light button
Enjoyed seeing them as guests though, made a nice change.
..and let us remind ourselves, the Madeleys will be giving airtime this evening to Archer, the convicted felon. Why is this person still a peer? I do hope Richard asks that question.
So do I Rothgar. I will love him forever It does appear that the more crimes the"celebs" commit the more the public like them. I understand that Ken Dodd is having a crusade started to give him some sort of "recognition" I would just like to see a receipt from the tax man!
My post re the appearance of Mr. Archer on the show has been edited by some twit! I was only asking if Richard had the courage to ask him a certain question.
I did not think Ken Dodd had been mentioned about appearing on the Pub Landlord. Has more zapping being going on?
