Hi OV, of course I’ve made a mistake; I think it was in 1989! Big Grin
Everybody makes mistakes, that’s why pencils have rubbers on them.
The person who never made a mistake never did anything.
I could go on with these sanctimonious clichés but I’m not really sure what that word means. Big Grin

My point is that if you allow drivers doing 33mph to get away with it, how long will it be before they up their speed to 35 or 40mph? Where’s the cut-off point? If someone makes a “mistake” and unintentionally does 33mph, then a fine might be enough to ensure they don’t make the same “mistake” twice. Reducing one’s speed by just 5 or 10mph in built up areas could be the difference between a pedestrian surviving a collision with a car and avoiding serious injury. Enjoy your bank holiday. Safe driving!

My point was, Corkman, that the humble motorist will be pursued to the ends of the earth for driving a few miles over the speed limit......if the driver is driving their own car, which is registered to their home address, taxed, insured and all the rest of it.

If the trail in anyway goes cold and it's not so easy to find the driver, do you think they make the effort ? Unlikely.

They don't want the extra aggro or paperwork.

If you don't want a parking ticket then use public transport, cycle or walk.

The car is a real problem in the UK, causing a lot of problem for pedestrians and cyclists who are doing their bit for the environment.

Give me a viable alternative to the car, which is safe, economical and practical and I would gladly give up the car.

When my car was in the garage recently, it took me three trains to get to work, took twice as long and cost twice as much. I just don't have the time or the money to do that everyday.

Well being environmentally friendly isn't purely about economics. Your gain is a lot of other peoples loss in one way or another.
Also the car has enabled you to do the long journey to work and that is the problem, with out the car you would be living closer to work, which is what people used to do and what people need to do now that we have a climate change problem.

The issue you raise isn't really about your car but about what you do with your life.

The car is purely convenient and often convenience is the real issue when it comes to environmental problems.
