I just wondered what the chances are of having a go at this. so has anyone ever been selected - and if so how did you do?

One of my mum's work colleagues got on, I think she won £6,000.

I think they get 20,000 calls a day for it so the chances of getting on are very small. And you have to phone up straight away, not in the last ad break when they say "lines close in 2 minutes".

Is it my imagination - are the chosen contestants ..perhaps...um...er...um......um.....er...um..invariably...um...er... not up to the extremely rigorous, intellectual demands of this contest?

If so, it would seem quite wrong of R & J to fiddle with the selection of contestants in order to pay out less than would otherwise be the case.

None of R&J's intelligent viewers (and there are many ) phone up because they don't want to pay 75p for a 1 in 20,000 chance of winning.
