It was like watching an audition tape from a couple of media studies students.

Did the real stand-ins drop out ?

I thought they did really well, David did occasionally go over the top with his 'funny' moments, but overall they had good chemistry, with the odd knee touch !

Does David Walliams ever do anything else but go over the top?

What I saw of it was amateurish, inappropriate and very poor. Exactly why they were picked to stand in I should think.

Hi 12trees Smile
Why is presentation of R & J, be it by them or stand-ins, always underscored with smut?
And not particularly witty smut at that.
I feel it is offensive to the adult viewer.
(and banal)

I wish I knew roth. Probably for the shock factor and publicity.

Was it really necessary at 17:17 for Walliams to say - Andy Warhol used to watch Duran Duran videos and play with himself?

Walliams looked totally out of his depth. He didn't know whether to be serious or funny. Agreed, the level of smut and innuendo was a bit too much for 5pm but that's Walliam's stock in trade.

I quite liked Lisa Snowdon though. Quite easy on the eye. Wink
May prove a worthy replacement for Judy if she goes through with her threats to quit.

I thought Lisa Snowden a most attractive and personable young lady.
I thought she was the late Princess Margaret's daughter, obviously not!

I found the whole thing too contrived.

"I was in Little Britain....you may have heard of it.......I was great in it......my mate, Matt Lucas, will be in later to agree how great it was, even though we've got no real reason to have him on the show and nothing much to ask him or talk about.....so we knocked up some rubbish based on an ageing 70s game show that hardly anyone will remember.....we love Richard and Judy....they love us.......I've been to their house......"

Utter garbage.

I do still like R&J (I think the word love is a little OTT), but found yesterday's "cover" a waste of air-time.

They should bring back the test card instead for times like that Big Grin

Don't you think they have scraped the bottom of the barrel this series though? It has been pretty much of a shambles. Tricky has been pretty arrogant throughout, she's been dreadful and the standard of items has been poor seeking deliberate confrontation or just plain cheap and tawdry.

Is it now not the time for C4 to look for something and somebody better?

I thought yesterdays show was a real shambles!

Not a fan of David and Matt so was not impressed with their appearance, probably on because of their friendship of R&J.

With regards to 12trees comments I think that the decline in good television programmes today is increasing rapidly.Violence, foul language, smut, sex seems to be the order of the day. Eastenders and Coronation Street are,in my opinion, take off or turn off tv but going by the number of viewers, we are told they attract, this is what people want. Therefore, other programmes are downgrading to this very poor standard.

I have noticed that Richard is swearing quite frequently which is another turn off, especially at 5p.m. Bring back another Mary Whitehouse I say.

Madeley's swearing and his faux 'oops I didn't mean to say that' attitude is just on example of how tawdry the show has got. But moreso the type of features they are including. The items seemingly reflecting their prejudices - animal humiliation, health and safety/political correctness - and the Daily Mail agenda type stories - crime and fighting back, none of us are safe in our beds. In addition to this we have more Mike McClean idocy - just tell me what sort of person stops in the street to talk to McClean when he's poncing about? The Heathrow protesters interview prejudice and bias and the failure to balance an item with guests - was a tabloid TV correspondent really appropriate? The continued appearances of Bigot Ferrari.

I think they are taking the 'p' by putting this sort of rubbish out every night. Surely C4 have got their card marked and their days are numbered.

oh I'm growing so weary of you corky.

It's clear you can't say anything positive about the programme. You can't even provide a suitable answer to my complaints, you just choose to abuse me again. Why oh why do the R&J apologists continually attack R&J's critics on a personal level. You're probably one of the production team trolls who visit here occasionally aren't you?

Don't ever, ever presume to tell me what to do or what to watch.

Occasional - never send a complaint to the Cactus programme office - send it to Channel 4 directly. The programme makers will just ignore it.

Just to make things clear from above - corky left a post which was just personal attack which mods have removed but left my reply.

Did you see Madeley being interviewed after Tony Wilson's funeral yesterday? Sans make-up, he looked a bit, well, rough, and not particularly healthy. Maybe that's part of the reason he's acting even odder than usual. His vanity can't cope with the effects of the ageing process.

As for Walliams, he looked like someone you view through a spy hole (tiny eyes and a weirdly shaped head), and his 'jokes' are painful to hear. Snowden is inoffensive but amateurish, which is probably why Jude felt relaxed about letting her be her stand-in.

Why do you go posting lies all over the forum? Judy has been delightful throughout the series. The selection of items has been great from the serious to the light hearted. Confrontation is people arguing for or againgst what they believe.

Thanks diggy.

These people can't tell the difference between lies and opinion. At least coluke attempted a justification at the programme which is more than corky vould manage. I diagree with his/her interpretation however it was an attempt at defence.

Quite frankly the show this season has been manifestly worst than ever. The light-hearted has taken priority and Tricky and Judy have shown they can't handle serious interviews at all.

I give an example from tonight. tricky asked a question and the woman didn't get chance to answer before Judy jumped in with her opinion.

They simply cannot do 'unbiased' - everything has to resolve around their opinion.
