Hi
Sorry I wasn't sure where to put this but I thought seeing Richard & Judy viewers read a lot of books you might be able to help.
I'm 24 and not a great reader really took me ages to read the last book cos kept on picking it up and down so ideally an easy to pick up book would be ideal!
I need a good book to read, one I can pick up easily, the last book I read was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime,
I have Northern Lights, Seeing Stars, The Time Travellers Wife & Lovely Bones all in the house.
Can anyone suggest any books?
Thanks
Big Grin

You have to say what appeals to you. Did you like The Lovely Bones?

Hi Star 1982 Wink

As Sweet Marie says it depends what sort of plots you enjoy.

At the moment I'm reading "The Lost Art Of Keeping Secrets" by Eva Rice. It's been in the book club before and is very good so far.

There's more to books than "plot"
I've just read "Das Kapital", quickly, and I'm damned if I can see a "plot".
Probably me!!

True Rothgar but a plot sure helps.

If Star 1982 doesn't want a plot then he/she may just as well read a Haynes manual on a 1985 Austin Metro Big Grin

You could try watching a movie instead. Mind you, they're almost as unpredictable. I watched one the other day, 'Video Head Cleaner'. Some sort of arty-fartsy foreign film by the look of it - set in a blizzard, with no dialogue, just a high-pitched soundtrack. Oh, it was AWFUL! Mad

Try the one by Carole Malone - more truthful I believe.

Finally got around to finishing the above.

It was a good 8.5 out of 10 I would have said.

BUT

The ending had too many loose ends, but maybe the author was leaving the way open for a sequel Big Grin

Ha! Just finished reading this as well. Didn't realise it had been in the bookclub though. I think it started well but was also disapointed by the ending. I think the last lot of book club books were on the whole rather weak.
