Unfortunately, Dixion, as you've not been posting on here all that long, you're probably not aware as to the "Battle Royale" that has been going on between the moderators and the posters.

It is for the same reason that hardly anyone posts here any longer.

Chris's comments were 100% spot on.

Thank you Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms Occasional Visitor (that is a very clever user name if you post only occasionally) for your kind indulgence during my novitiature.
As you say, people are not exactly falling over themselves to contribute to this Forum.
There is, perhaps, more activity on the
"Lost - Off Topic" Forum.
I wonder if, below a certain level of posting, the Forum is simply closed down?

You can't possibly know how many times we've tried again. It's what drove all of us away.

I had a feeling that might happen, so I took the precaution of keeping a copy.......

Hello Mr/Miss/Mrs/Ms Dixion Smile

I was very much a "regular visitor" up until a few months ago, however, such is the way this forum has been moderated recently, many of us “regulars” simply gave up.

You could say the moderators won. We would probably just say that life was too short to continually have the stuffing knocked out of us when all we wanted to do was express an opinion - everyone's comments were always pretty measured and always informative.

Posters such as myself, Chrisb1 (whose comment on The Times website has been mentioned), Amanda5653, Sweet Marie, M, Diggettydawg and Rothgar (and many others) never crossed the line as far as I could see. However, there was only so much "post removing without explanation" a person can take.

I'm guessing that we weren't always "on message" and maybe that was our downfall.

I guess all good things come to an end and maybe it's just a sign of the times. After all, you can get a criminal record these days for having an overflowing dustbin.

As for closing the forum down, I guess they will go through the motions until the last R&J show on C4, then someone somewhere will throw a switch and that will be that.

I hope things pickup again during the final series and then, Dixion, you can join in a final "hurrah!"

Many thanks, indeed, Occasional Visitor, for putting me in the picture.
From what you say, sounds most odd, but, perhaps, when there's a coterie of regulars, Threads get off topic so they're zapped.
Good luck.
Smile

PS
You cannot get a criminal record for having an overflowing dustbin.
You can get a criminal record for non-payment of fines.
There is a difference.

Surely Rothgar wouldn't be wasting his time on here these days? How many of us visit? Three people a week?

Hmm, I'm beginning to wonder, the same sense of the ironic and wicked humour, the same excellent command of the language, could we hope? Should we hope?

This um er um er "Rothgar" chappie - out of curiousity, I've just read some of his posts.
I must say they are, in my opinion, absolutely brilliant, what scintillating wit and erudition!
Frankly, left me breathless.
Do come back, Rothgar.

Unless you lot have been given some kind of peace deal, what's the point of us bothering again? Anything we write will just disappear again. Why don't we just arrange to use another place?
