This US TV series is being aired on the Bravo Channel each Friday night at 11 0'clock, starting this Friday (the 27th).
For those who hav'nt heard about this series it's a 13 part series of one hour movies directed by well known and some not so well know horror directors. This weeks film is 'Jennifer' by Dario Argento, and in the following weeks there will be films by Stuart Gordon, Tobe Hooper, Mick Garris, Joe Dante, John Landis, John Carpenter, William Malone, Larry Cohen, John McNaughton, Takashi Miike, Lucky McKee and Don Coscarelli.
Some of the reviews have been mixed about the series but should be of interest to horror fans.
Actually I've just discovered that it started a couple of weeks ago(!) Bravo usual repeats it's programs so hopefully I hav'nt missed any.
Interstingly the HBO Channel in America that's been broadcasting the series have pulled the Takashi Miike film called 'Imprint' due to it being too disturbing! Hopefully this won't be the case with Bravo.
Just in case anyones been watching this series, they will be showing Takashi Miike's film 'Imprint' on April 7th at 11pm despite it being pulled from TV broadcast in America. There's a trailer for it at www.bravo.co.uk/mastersofhorror/index.html
It will be getting a DVD release later on in the year, and by what I've seen of the trailer it looks damn freaky!
I'm not sure about any repeats on Bravo but they are releasing the series as a DVD boxset late in the next few months. The second series is to be shown in the US from October so it should be shown in the UK early next year hopefully.
I've heard some pretty mixed opinions about the series, so I'm reluctant to buy the DVDs. I might just get the John Carpenter episode on its own as its meant to be the best. It sounds the most interesting.
Without a doubt the Carpenter and Miike episodes where the best of the entire series. They did start releasing them as two disc packs before they decided on the boxset only so the on thw two disc pack set was 'Cigarette Burns' by Carpenter which comes along with 'Dreams in the Witch House' which is a decent H.P.Lovecraft adaption by Stuart Gordon. They have been releasing them on single discs over in the US but on only Region 1 though. I managed to get a single disc release of Imprint' on Region 2 from a site called exploitedfilms.com.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
