Quite keen to see this when its released in March....I loved the original.
The director is the French guy (sorry cant remember his name) who did "High Tension / Switchbalde Romance" which had the worst ending for me EVER. However, still looking forward to seeing this remake.
Although I don't like remakes that much of films that are perfectly adequate in the first place, and I do quite fancy seeing this when it's released. Hopefully the director won't mess up the ending and just give us a meaty survival story. I seem to think the story has been relocated to North Africa somewhere but I can't be sure.
It's definately worth getting, on sale cheap or at full price. It's still suprisingly suspenseful and violent even though it was made in the late 70's.

It's a sci-fi story about a giant meteor which crashlands on this hilly area of southern america. It transpires that the meteor came from deep space and was contaminated with all sorts of nasty chemicals which cause the aforementioned hills to come alive. Not only do they have eyes, but they learn to become mobile and intelligent. They breed and it is these baby "hillocks" which are the scary ones. They move faster you see and can enter houses where...well, let me just say, this is where the sick stuff starts. Gruesome is an oft used word but here it is the only way to describe the depraved carnage that only a small hill [with eyes] can manage. I tell you, I haven't been out to the countryside since I saw the original version all those years ago.
I heard that if you've seen Wrong Turn, don't bother watching Hills Have Eyes cos they're almost the same. Is that true? I wasn't very impressed with Wrong Turn.
I'd like to start by saying that Switchblade Romance has a kickass ending. The fact that America has excreted another poor and underclass remake sickens me, i dont think they should be allowed to suly such classic films. And yet they are doing it again with the Wicker Man and that irritates me more because its British, Christopher Lee cannot be beaten.

I'll match that bet and say he doesn't. They may be stupid enough to try and remake that film in a way that is relevent for todays audiences, but they can't be stupid enough to change one of the most unsuspecting and highly regarded endings in cinema history.
