It has now become public knowledge that the notorious film Caligula is to be released uncut at the end of September on DVD. This original version is an hour longer than the current DVD version and apparently includes all the previously censored scenes. The BBFC have justified the 18 certificate on the basis of historic interest.
Some of the media, politicians and pressure groups will have a field day with this news, calling for the immediate recall of parliament and demanding that heads must roll.
Apart from the curiousity value, is there any real justification for the uncut version to be released? What do you think?
Please ensure that replies are within the forum rules - I realise that prohibits details of the previously cut scenes.
As I thought, judging by the lack of responses, there is no real justification for the uncut version to be released. But then the film is so bad that it doesn't warrant me spending time considering whether the film should be released uncut, cut or completely obliterated.
it would easily be the best film of its genre if it wernt for all the needless porno scenes. im guessing the extra footage will just be more porn, ill check it out anyway.

If you mean the historical Roman epic genre, I can think of quite a few films I would rate ahead of Caligula, such as Ben Hur, Spartacus and Gladiator.
