Does anyone know where (apart from Scandinavia) I'm likely to have guaranteed snow (for skiing)during the first few weeks of January?

Mejon - Hi (Ignore the above poster - on a quest for stars!!)- We went to Andorra on the 17th Jan last year and had fab snow (even if it was somewhat freezing - but then, thats how I like it!!) I think there are very few places you can actually guarentee snow but apparently the whole of Europe is due a cold winter this year so skiers should be lucky where ever they go.

I'm off to Andorra again this January for the same week - Fingers cross the snow is as great as last year - Either way, can't wait. Had a great laugh last year.

Thank you NM. I'll have a look at Andorra. We went to Finnish Lapland in January and though it was fantastic, thought we might try somewhere different next time.

In the crystal ski brochure a couple of resorts are down as 'guaranteed snow'. I think these were mainly near glaciers.

From memory, I think Fulpmes in Austria was one.

Stick to anywhere of high altitude in Italy (I love Bardonecchia where it is guraranteed that time of year) or Austria.

I'd suggest you stay clear of Andorra and France as a rule.
