After much searching and comparing have booked my dream holiday to Moon Palace in Cancun. Have now been told that the sea around cancun can be murky, choppy and contain lots of seaweed. We especially like snorkling off the beach and were a bit dismayed when told this as none of the brochures or travel advisor sites stated this at all. This hol is costing me a lot of money (double 40th b'day celebs) and i dont want to be diappointed. Any advice would be great

If east coast Mexico is like west coast, the waters will be muddy and visibility poor if you go during or just after the rainy season. When we were in Puerto Vallarta, the diving advice was 'don't waste your money' as the visibility was non-existent. Apparently if we had booked just a few weeks later, it would have been fab!!
I'd booked several people to the Moon Palace when I was a travel agent and many more to hotels in Cancun itself. I've heard nothing bad about the sea, but it certainly isn't mentioned when you talk about good places to go for snorkelling/diving.
As for the Moon Palace itself, cracking hotel, perfect for honeymooners and people there for special occasions. There can be little to do though, so I hear, if you aren't into Golf. The hotel is quite far from the resort, which obviously can be a good thing if you want piece and quiet.
