I'm off next weekend for a week. I am terrified of flying so it's going to be like long haul for me! I was wondering about what clothes to take though as although the temperatures look comfortably warm during the day I have no idea whether the evenings will be particularly cold or not. I don't want to take any more luggage than necessary so I figured if I can find out a little more about what weather to expect this time of year I can pack accordingly. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi I haven't visited Fuerteventura at this time of year (did go in August a few years ago) but probably with most hot countries the temperature will drop during the evening so would recommend taking a jacket or something to put on over your evening outfits. There is probably a website with more information with regard to weather/temperatures at this time of year - try channel 4 or bbc.co.uk (they have a section on the weather which gives the forecast for next 5 days for any place/ country) Hope you have a great time. Maybe a few drinks before the flight might settle your nerves!
Thanks Plum. I've been checking the weather and it drops surprisingly little at night so I think it's going to be really pleasant. I'm not a mega sun worshipper anyway and I would imagine the island will be pretty quiet. All in all I can't wait!!!

it's not the flying you should be worried about, it's your choice of holidays that frightens me. This island is Butlins in the sun, it's tacky, bland and everything thats wrong with the british version of a foreign holiday, transporting everything thats crap in britain to spain before daring to try something new, Horrible horrible place-give spain back to the spanish.
Voodooray How was your holiday??? I've just read this thread and I'm all worried now! I was in Granada (Andalucia) at the time of your holiday and it was pretty bloomin' cold! I heard there was snow on Tenerife at the end of January!!
Any questions on this cesspit are irrelevant. Fuerteventura is known as the windy island and from the smell of the sewers i can tell why. Caleta de fuste is the worst place on the island. a custom built Blackpool in the sun, I wouldn't be suprised to see a kiss me quick hat. Horrible place, I know what happened, you saw a cheap deal and said hey I won't mind as long as it's sunny but no your destined to have a terrible time. What a kip
I went there last year for during the first two weeks of march It was pretty warm most of the time, although I did wear a light cardigan while out and about it does get a bit chilly at night, and it is windy I didn't like it there, it's just a whole load of sand with some hotels and pubs built on it; if u wanna sunbath and get pissed up it ok but if you're looking for anything mo than that, forget it! I was mo excited to be coming home than going! And i'll never go back, it put me off ever trying the other canaries On returning home, I decided to only go to worthwhile places in future- I've spent the year working my butt off and am going to Hawaii this summer

I have to disagree with you there. My partner and i spent a lovely week there last september, it wasnt about sunbathing and getting Pi**ed at all, there is plenty to do and see if you can be bothered to find out these things.
We hired a car and drove into the mountains one day which was great, we came accross some lovely traditional canarian towns and villages.
We spent our holiday before this in the Maldives and to be honest we enjoyed both holidays equally for different reasons!!
Voodoray, hope you enjoyed your holiday as much as we did

Well you're a little ray of sunshine aren't you!
Nell, thanks for asking, we actually had a wonderful week. We stayed at Costa Calma down the southern end of the island and it was excellent. Wonderful beaches, everywhere was really clean as well. There were lots of German s there but to be honest I found them a damn site better behaved than a lot of Brits abroad. It really was perfect for a quiet week away. We had a hire car and the first 3 days were very overcast so we drove up to Corralejo. It was not a particularly nice place if I'm honest. Very tatty and I think if we'd have been staying there we probably would have been a little disappointed. I would definately go again though.

I know what you mean about Corralejo. I was staying at Playa Blanca on Lanzarote and took the ferry across to Corralejo. Admittedly I got there at the start of siesta, but there were probably only a couple of shops I'd have gone into anyway. Beaches didn't look that great. Thing that confused me was that there were about 5 tour buses parked in the (at that time of day) very quiet main street. Where were all the tourists??
Would def go back to Lanzarote though. From reading the forum, won't be rushing back to Tenerife or Fuerteventura.

Me & my BF stayed there too xmas week, it was quite quiet but that was what we wanted so suited us. We also went over on the ferry to Corralejo didn't enjoy it that much also weather was quite chilly so spent most of the day in some bar watching only fools & horses
God may have created man before woman but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece
You patronising little oik Tremone. Just because something doesn't appeal to you does not give you the right to sit in judgement of others who may have different opinions to you. Would you actually speak to somebody this way in person and if so how many of your own teeth are you still in possession of?

The weather wasn't good the day we went to Corralejo either Jennie, we spent the afternoon in a bar watching Mr Bean though!
I also had one of the worst meals ever in an Italian restaurant, you'd think you couldn't really go far wrong with pasta wouldn't you? Hubby didn't want me to make a fuss though so he just went and offered our food to a couple's dog, the manager soon got the message!
On a better note though. Jandia and Costa Calma were lovely places. Really clean and some lovely shops and restaurants. Great beaches too. I think the Southern end of Fuerteventura is definately the best place to go.

We had a wonderfull holiday on this island my hubby grandsons and daughter a week befor christmas in Calata de fust the hotel was wonderful and all the locals were very nice we stayed at the Broncemore Hotel and we will go again anyone who has never been should go it is such a wonderfull place quite when we were there but the weather was in the 20s and one day was 29 so we looked as though we had been away

hehe!!
The 5 tourbuses parked in a quiet back street meant that lots of people who were holidaying in Fuerteventura were visiting Lanzarote for the day!!
My other half and I stayed in Fuerteventura Feb last year, nad enjoyed every moment of it. Took a day trip to Lanzarote to take in the Timanfaya National Park which was just awesome. We had lovely weather on Fuerteventura, but it rained whilst we were on Lanzarote.
The best beaches in Fuerteventura are south of Corelejo in the Sand Dunes. Miles and miles of rolling dunes and not too many people. I`ve heard that the sandy Beaches in the far south round Jandia are excellent as well, but we never went there, def next time though!
Lasy month we went to Gran Canaria. The temps went up to 34 degrees for a couple of days.
From what people were saying, the whole of the Canaries had a "bad" winter. Maybe for the locals it was bad, but for the tourists from the UK it was lovely!
I`ve not heard very good reports about Tenerife, from people I know who`ve been there. It`s very commercialised, and apparently full of lager louts. I`d go back to Fuerteventura like a shot, without a shadow of a doubt.

ok if you lot insist on going to JesseVentura you should take a trip to island of Lobos, while the canaries isn't exactly lush this little place is like landing on the moon but after you're off the boat people will start moving to get their own little private spot for swimming which is excellent-loads of fish swimming with you too so bring a snorkel and a good pair of sandals as those rocks can be sharp and obviously a good book. I recall now we were sitting on our private rock in a bay shared by 3 other couples all positioned as far away as possible when we were interrupt by some gimp posing in a speedboat. Unfortunately their was a guy in snorkelling and the speedboat was heading straight for him. We were waving frantically but the guys in the boat took as merely friendly folk and waved back. Had to jump in the water and get to the and swimming and pointing, finally the guys in the boat got it, a few minutes later the snorkell guy surfaced oblivious to calamity.
