One of thekids, Gunston, found the whole thing a bit much. It's a shame he couldn't have stuck it out, as the first two days were always going to be the tooghest. Mind you, I must admit, I can see how the whole thing might come as a huge culture shock. Not sure I would have handled it that well at 15 either!

I'll be interested to see how the group fares as time goes on.

I don't know what to make of situations like this you know, to leave from something which is pretty big and a life time experience annoys me... To be involved with something like this would be a fantastic experience and what not, I've seen a number of people leaving before the course/program ends i.e. Shipwrecked, Bad Lads Army, I'm sure theres more that I'm not aware of or for that matter can't think of, anyway it's ashame...

hey yall,
well gunston left so early on i didn't really get to talk to him a whole lot but since we arrived he seemed very ill at ease, and really didn't talk to any1 a whole lot,

as you seen last night when Ho was upset i ceritnly tried to cheer him up, and maybe because gunston didn't talk to us as much that's why he left.

Yes it was a shame but he is only 15. I thought maybe the teachers were all hamming it up a bit, trying to be too strict. A little bit of pastoral care could have gone a long way to help.

I think he may come to regret his decision, as it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But I think he found himself out of his depth pretty much from the start. Maybe I would have done at that age too. The haircut definitely shook him up, and that's understandable too.

If it had been me, I would have wanted to see it through, but some people are more vulnerable than others, and can discover too late that they have bitten off more than they can chew.

What a wimp! So he’s only 15. He’s obviously been over pampered. Kids much younger than him go off to boarding school for months on end(not just 4 weeks). In some countries kids at that age would be working (perhaps away from home) or serving in the military, not justifying either of these two scenarios but it makes you think.

i know it was perhaps not the best thing for gunston to leave after just a few days as he didn't get to live the routine properly; and i maybe do think that he gave in to quickly, but from my experience in the school being thrown so rapidly into that situation, where from a chilled out 21st century lifestyle into a no nonsense school, does make you extremely emotional and homesick.

what you viewers have to remember is that the show was genuinely a school and we did not stop for the cameras, and the privacy from the cameras was very far and few between. It is difficult to adjust straight away and so for that i dont blame gunston.

for me though, even though the change was hard to handle, i had been so pleased to get into That'll teach 'em and the first few days were really enjoyable, making new friends and experiencing it as it was very differnt. it was afterwards the homesick effected me when we went swimming (i dont know if i cant say much about that day) and i then wanted to go home. Smile
