the lesson last night where girls and boys had to share one teacher . they portrayed it that the pupils were acting up as there were opposite sexes in the room . whereas it could have been the number , per chance ? if the girls class suddenly doubled , yet it was still just girls there would be more acting out , as if the boys class was doubled . or even just after so long , new people , its unfair to blame it on genderness .
The boys and girls themselves seem to disagree. Lots of their comments at the time ascribed the deterioration of the atmosphere to being in a mixed class.
There were also mixed prep sessions each evening and these were supposed to be silent and studious. This was often difficult to maintain.
