lol i recon they should bring that back to school.... i blame the lack of discipline for the reason we have so many idiots about... but how did you guys actually cope with the discipline, was it torture, or not too bad, and would you have done that again??? whatever that was???
lol i care less cos im in college but still might do some people some good, its amazin how in those days. there was very little catagory of thugs... and since the release of punishment... theres been a dramatic increase in the number of them about.... *rolls eyes*
I went to Grammer in the early 70's , and we had to actually do work in our detention or other punishments,,like staying after school to put the chairs away in the main hall, do things for the caretaker for a week if you'd dropped litter, write an SA on a subject.. OR yes there was Corporal Punishment...There was the Cane, mostly..as last resort..and a very powerfull deterant it was, for the vast majority of us.. and as for anything out of line in Pe , well all gym teachers used the slipper on the spot, as for me i never got the cane,, but did get the slipper on 3 occasions, it was fine...i knew i'd pushed my luck, and i took the punishment.. there were 500 kids in my school and nearly all followed the rules,& knew what discilpine was.. sure we had bullies, and fights,,, but the cane ruled, and between the 1st and 2nd yr's most problems were ironed out..few 3rd,4th & 5th yr's were bad eggs. and teachers and Prefects were always around to keep order. School uniform was also strictly enforced,, not to make us a number... but to make us feel part of something, one of the team, and proud to be there.. we valued our teachers, respected the rules, did as we were told, and still had a great time. .....
